You could probably do the same with a little practice. Writing a resume" is not difficult, but most people need a good guide to "show them the ropes." Why? Most people don"t know how because it hopefully is not something you do every day like I did.

The tips I am giving here come from several years experience, both my personal experience in preparing to change employers, but also helping some friends do the same. The most memorable was a campaign for a friend. We together sent out around several hundred rç©sumç©"s the same day, hoping of course for a "hit." In the job search game, a "hit" is when you get a letter or a call asking you to come for an interview. In this campaign if my memory serves me right, out of 2, 000 sent out, we got 7 "hits."

One of these turned out to be a "home run", meaning my friend got the interview then got the job. At over 40 this is getting more and more difficult to do, but he did it.

To write YOUR resume"

They may have hundreds of openings to cover so one of the first narrowing is to throw out all the multi-page rç©sumç©"s. Don"t blow it by trying to tell your life story. 2 - Leave a blank line, then write "job Objective:" and write it in. If you are applying for a specific position like lab technician, then this is your job objective.

3 - Leave a blank line then write "Educational History", then underline it. Skip a line and list your most recent beginning and end dates for school, then to the right write in the name and address of the school (just the town and state are OK), your major. If you graduated write in the date here, along with the degree or diploma you obtained for this.

4 - Repeat item 3 going backwards in time but with the same information. Go back as far as your high school education.

5 - Leave a blank line and then write" Work History", then underline it. Skip a line and list your present or most recent job beginning and ending dates. To the right, write in the name and address of your employer. Skip a line, then write in your job title, and a very brief description of what your do.

6 - Repeat step 5 going backwards in time but with the same information. Go back as far as your first job.

7 - Skip a line and write "Outside Interests", skip a line, then list briefly list your hobbies and other interests.

8 - Skip another line and write in capital letters and underlined: REFERENCES WILL BE FURNISHED UPON REQUEST

If you wrote all out on paper, now put it into your computer word processor or typewriter, in the format suggested.
