How To Write Resume Cover Letter - Avoid Costly Mistakes That Cost You The Job

I often went into to much detail on my resume cover letters, making it much to long for the reader.  When these people hiring have one or two to review it"s not much of a problem, when you"re competing with another 20 applicants, its suicide.  The interviewer is probably not going to read a two page letter where you vomited everything you could think of.  Remember these guys skim over them.  If you have text in there that catches their attention.  They"ll slow down and read it carefully.  If you don"t, it"s going to the bottom of the list and in the filing cabinet.

Going back to how to write the resume cover letter, be sure to make it appealing to the eye.  It"s better to have a bit less information in there, than for it to look cluttered and difficult to read.  Again, keep in mind they just go over it briefly, at first.  It will eventually be read so the content must be good and accurate, just break it down to several paragraphs rather than two or three huge blocks of text.

I made many mistakes while learning how to write resume cover letters.  I hope these couple of tips on what to avoid help others land the interview and the job.  I figured this, and it was one of the reasons I wanted to get into a good company where I could grow and be part of for years.  The more I could move up on the ladder the better the pay and benefits.  Making my life that much richer and enjoyable.
