Administrative Cover Letter - 5 Most Common Cover Letter Mistakes
1. Not submitting a cover letter. This is very obvious yet it is also the most common mistake. A cover letter is a chance to set yourself apart from your peers. To speak directly to your potential employer and show them why they should call you in immediately for an interview.
2. Forgetting to add your contact information at the top of the page.
Many times your cover letter and resume will get separated. Make sure you include your contact information on both forms that way no matter what we can always call you for an interview.
3. Addressing nobodyð€¦
What I mean by this is "To whom it may concern" is no good. Don"t be lazy. Call into the HR department and ask who to address it to. This does two things for you.
A. Allows you to personalize your cover letter.
B. Allows you to speak directly to the department that hires you. If you"re                  smart you will take this opportunity to build some rapport.
4. Rewriting your Resume.
You want to make this personal. The resume is there to bore them. Take this opportunity to really let them know what sets you apart. Tell them why they should hire you above the rest.
5. Forgetting to ask for the interview.
In your closing paragraph you need to ask to setup an appointment. Your selling yourself here and the biggest mistake that salesman make is not asking for the sale. Don"t be afraid to go after what you want.
